Iron in the Blood is a captivating new album exploring the rich tapestry of Australia's colonial past. Featuring music by award-winning saxophonist/composer Jeremy Rose and his newly formed Earshift Orchestra, the album is inspired by and features text from Robert Hughes' seminal work The Fatal Shore, read by Philip Quast (three-time Laurence Olivier Award winner) and William Zappa (Mad Max 2; Dead Europe).

Jeremy Rose is a jazz and creative music saxophonist/composer based in Sydney. He regularly performs with a wide range of projects including The Vampires, The Strides, Jeremy Rose Quartet, Compass Sax Quartet, and as a sideman in The Beautiful Girls, Mike Nock’s various ensembles and Cameron Undy’s 20th Century Dog.

Jeremy has also composed for numerous classical ensembles, including Ensemble Offspring, Nick Russoniello with Acacia String Quartet, the SSO Fellowship and Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic. Jeremy has studied in a variety of places including Norway, New York, London, and more recently in Greece, Cuba and Bali. Jeremy is completing a PhD in composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the supervision of Professor Matthew Hindson. He has received numerous awards including 2009 Bell Award for Young Australian Jazz artist of the Year, was a finalist in the 2012 and 2013 Art Music Awards and a finalist in the Freedman Jazz Fellowship in 2012 and 2013.
