Earshift Music is proud to announce the European debut of Jeremy Rose’s Disruption! The Voice of Drums, an award-winning project that reimagines the elemental force of rhythm for our turbulent times.

Featuring two drum visionaries – Simon Barker and Chloe Kim – alongside Hilary Geddes (guitar), Jacques Emery (bass), and ARIA award-winning saxophonist and composer Jeremy Rose, Disruption! is a visceral collision of rhythm, resistance and reflection.

About the work

Alongside the voice, the drum is the most elemental form of human expression. From prehistory to the present, humanity has used drums to conjure spirits, create ecstatic states, unite communities, and instil fear in enemies. More recently, drums have become the heartbeat of music meant to disrupt, resounding through protests across the world.

In Disruption!, the drum takes the foreground. Other instruments provide layers and space rather than traditional harmonic support, creating dense rhythmic entanglements and moments of quiet transcendence. The work channels the energy of civil unrest, bushfires, ecological crisis and the global pandemic — themes of disruption that define our era.

Described as a “thrilling tribute to the elemental and disruptive power of rhythm,” the project merges Barker’s two decades of study of Korean shamanic traditions with Kim’s fearless improvisational voice, bridging cultures and genres.
