Australian guitarist, Hilary Geddes is a code-switcher and will be familiar to some from the visceral world of rock, as Shreddes, lead guitarist of Sydney legendsThe Buoys(Sony), who toured UK/Europe twice in 2025. Geddes in her jazz and improvised milieu is immersed in the sensory, concentrating on making space and atmosphere. Her signature contributions could be heard live recently in Berlin, London and Wrocław with Disruption! at Zig Zag, London Jazz Festival and Jazztopad, and on various Earshift releases.

Now pull up a comfortable chair, for her Quartet and Redleaf, their second album (after Parkside 2021). Composed by Hilary specifically for these musicians over Corona years and played in post-Corona touring, she had a greater focus on non-linear scoring and clearer aims, as she describes, for soundscapes, timbral approaches to improvisations, to sonify feelings and different moods.
